I have had a MZJ400 fail on me. I am not a fan of them anymore. They are not very well made. Some are better than others.

The one I've got must have came from the deep end of the gene pool since it is over 9 years old, but it was what was available from Scotty that would run on 36V now and 48V later when I upgraded to an Alltrax controller. If/when I have to replace it I'll most likely go with a SW200 with magnetic breakouts. |

They probably last better on 36V. The failure mode I had is that it peened over the plunger on the end where it activates the switch that opens the "pull-in" coil. When that happens, that switch doesn't open and the pull-in coil smokes. The main contacts looked brand new.
