Default DCS Solenoid Staying Activated

1998 TXT DCS. What would cause the solenoid to stay activated longer than it should? It clicks when I push the pedal as it should, but it usually won't unclick. Have to shift to neutral to get it to click again to shut off even after sitting still. Or i can turn the key off and the solenoid will click off. I already replaced the pedal box microswitch and ITS and adjusted the plunger and didn't help it. It has a new Allltrax controller and solenoid as well. It did this with the old controller and solenoid too. Anyone?

Check the voltage on Pin-5 at the controller. It ought to drop to 0V when the pedal is up.

Also check pedal hinge for debris blocking it from coming all the way up.

Could be a weak or broken pedal return spring.

I get 36 volts on pin 5 (green wire) when the pedal is up and solenoid not activated in neutral or in gear. Pedal spring seems good and there is no debris blocking it from returning. Plunger is adjusted correctly to where pedal microswitch engages/disengages as should. Only thing that is not new on this cart are the FNR microswitches. Could those be the culprit?

Should green light on controller be on while solenoid is not activated? Comes on when I put it in gear with pedal up and solenoid not active.

1. Run/Tow in Run + Direction selected on F/R + Keys3witch ON = ACT48x00-DCS controller powered up.

2. Normal.

Battery pack voltage on Pin-5 with pedal up is the problem.

Fix that and you fix the cart.

Could the fnr microswitches be the culprit? Only way I know to find out is to buy new ones and see. If not, then I will have wasted money buying parts I don't need. They work fine in controlling cart direction so I don't see how they could be causing the solenoid to stay activated but who knows!

1. No. They could keep the solenoid from being energized, but can't keep it from being de-energized.

2. You can check for voltage being passed on. When F is selected you should have battery pack voltage on Pin-6. When R is selected you should have pack voltage on Pins 6 & 4. When N is selected you should have 0V on both of those pins.

3. If cart moves in both directions, there is a near certainty those switches are good.

------------
Pack voltage on Pin-5 is what tells the controller to connect B- to Pin-7 and energize the solenoid. If you have voltage on Pin-5 after the pedal is all the way up, that is what is causing the solenoid to stay energized.

Got to looking at it today. Checked wiring over and over, pulled pedal box apart. Everything checked out good. So I ended up just putting another new MZJ400 solenoid on it (even though the last one was new), and it fixed the problem. Clicks and shuts off as should now. Thanks for helping me troubleshoot. Guess it was just a bad solenoid or was damaged when I installed a diode backwards at the beginning.
