Default 94 Club Car Charging problem

94 Club car 36V w/ V-Glide.

Plugged in charger this evening to charge while working on uphostering new seat backs, etc. Charger came on (Powerwise 36V), meter showed batts were taking charge. Within 5-10 mins... started to smell something hot.. Burnt plastic smell. Before I could get to charger, it had already shut itself off. Unplugged everything, started feeling around and the charger receptacle on the cart was hot as hell and the top end of receptacle inside batt box was melted.

Any ideas on the cause? Where do I start to diagnose the problem? Too late to tear into things now but has anyone had this problem before? What was your fix???

There probably was some corrision in there or it was loose and made arcing and melted it. Put in a new recepticle as they arent expensive at all around 16 bucks.

Thank you. That was exactly what I did. And based on its condition, I am in agreement with the corrosion and the arcing.
