01 Club Car restoration that has almost killed me!
01 Club Car restoration that has almost killed me!
it started off as a $400 quick flip for a few bucks. UNTIL my wife said " I LIKE THAT " Im flipping it I replied. " I said like this one," She said with Athora-tie! Well a month, a grand ( so far ), and many busted knuckles later. And I'm still not done. I guess it beats 10 to 15 grand for a new one. I'll keep a up to date. As my physical ability will allow. But for now. 3 hrs of sleep a nite lol |

Re: 01 Club Car restoration that has almost killed me!
The values leak but the rest, NOT SO BAD> A throwaway cart from NRG power company... Someone drug it homes and messed with it for a while and sold it off to a guy I know. He bought new rubber and the aluminum part for the vibration dampener he drove it until the vales started to leak.
NOT one rubber grommet or bushing was left in this cart. $$ all were rotten or worn. Every bolt took heat from the torch with 1/2 impact or I was forced to chisel off The underside had 3mil of dried cement film caked-on EVERYTHING> $$$ To remove it we were forced to used Blast media and High-speed wire wheels This left the Aluminum chassis in need of paint to appear nice and clean $$$$ The plan was to buy a wrecked V twin water-cooled Honda so it would all fit under the seats and last forever. I can find wrecked bikes for 150 bucks But then I was learned about CLOCKWISE CCWise. **** IT!THen My 1941 Wagner compressor motor started to make a sound and to my surprise, I found out THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED! $$$$$ Well $ really The WEG motor 5 hp was about 380 shipped |

Now the parts list is compiled. And reality hits it, country boy, where it hurts. My Luck ran out the day I bought this cart. It is the most expensive cart to attempt this kind of rebuild.
Not only does the engine turn the wrong way. But the $13 chevy Chevette wheel cyls are $132.00 bucks each WHAT ARE YA CRAZY? And rebuild kits? Lol well, I had to ask... An Aftermarket co. makes a kit for either front or rear Noone knows. 7/8 or 5/8 bore but you must buy it to see if it fits. Wanna guess the price.??? $32.00 for what? ONE kit ONE cyl. and its only inner and outer boot. No pistons springs zerks etc. And to my surprise (so far ) Noone had found a cyl that will fit. Triumph spitfire looks close though. With 200 dollar set of shoes new cyl. brake lines and master we are talking over grand kiddos. Fred Flintstone brakes may be in my future., But 1st il see if I can make the old one work Time for paint. Build a temp booth and get it on . Oh, wait ... The front shocks are 300 plus. FYI 02 to 07 VTX Honda rear shocks will fit fine. ANd I just sold a chromed set DAD GUMIT>>> the rear I found for 44 bucks for the pair also I forget the application but ill post it when I see it wil work |

Re: 01 Club Car restoration that has almost killed me!
FINISHED??? 🤪 DONE? 🤣 The only complete thing about this build so far is how completelyworn out I am lol.
I'm that guy that makes a plan yet can't stick to it. Always changing, fixing what's not broken lol its a disease I get will see something and anther GREAT IDEA will emerge that always cost time and money. Like this awesome work of art. Every square inch of this thing is over the top. I saw the paint scheme and had to change direction with my project lol I'm just whining because I wanted to finish before our vacation to make the wife happy we stayed for a week on the coast and all week long folks rode by on these things so now she wants one. Truth is I love to try new things for the first time and thus project has a few first for me. I've really enjoyed it. The cover/top/roof I hope will come out the way I see it in my mind. We will be replacing the plastic tub with a custom stretched canvas top stretched between 2 uprights with a bit of shape to them but we need to keep it lite also. So Many unknowns makes it hard to be sure what's next... lol I'll keep updates coming.. cheers -- |
