Default 91 rev limiter

Need some help. I have a 1991 carry all and it runs great. I messed with the Gov rod and the trottle cable and got it to speed up abit but it is bouncing off the limiter. I have seen and read about other years 92 and up how to disable the limiter (taking off the brown ground wires eyelet off the mounting bolt for the limiter and tape up)but mine doesnt have that eyelet ground wire that is located to the mounting bolt. I have 5 wires broken in 2 sets. The first is a black and brown and it is a plug type(like the ones on your truck for trailer lights) the other half of that plug is going to the starter motor. The other plug type thing is going somewhere inside the motor guessing it is connected to the exitor coil. I did unplug the one that went to the starter and it would start, turn over but not start. I do not want to remove because My kids drive it to and I would like to be able to hook it up for them when they drive. Thanks For the help

Welcome to bgw !

Umm, you could get a wire diagram from the stickies in this section and keep tracing it out till you find the ground wire...then reroute the ground thru an under the seat switch for Dad. But 1) you will need a tach to keeep from damaging your engine and 2) your kids will find the switch sooner or later.

or you could put a tiny tach on it and teach everyone whos driving not to go over 3900 rpm,s but yes you do want to do something cause one to many bounces off the limiter and shes cooked...............................

I got a tiny Tach and I can not get the engine dailed in. I want to set it to the max I can run that lock the Gov there. What is the Max I can run this motor. I have the RPM's at like 4350 with the netural lock out on. But once you put some wait on it and drive we lose some so I am run on flat surface about 4050 is that safe? At 4350 it sounds like it has b more in the tank.
