New Guy Introduction

Hey yall!

New guy from Texas here. Just wanted to throw out an intro and say hello and thanks for all the info.

The story:

My mother in law purchased a newer gas rig and decided to throw some new batteries in her old cart and give the cart to my (nearly) 4 year old boy. I am a car guy and have no issues wrenching and figuring stuff out but I am new to electric motored vehicles. She gave him a 1991 CC DS 36v. Overall its in decent shape but it needs a refurbishing. That's where dad gets to have fun. lol

I have been trying to research different things but am coming up blank. Here are a few of my questions regarding the 91 model.

Im looking for a complete suspension/steering replacement for the front end and possibly a body swap but can only find kits that are for 1993 and up. Are there significant differences between them? I cant seem to find a solid answer. Ill try to attach pictures to this thread.

Here are my plans to start with:

Complete front end reubild or replacement. (preferably stock height)

Electrical component replacement that can be utilized when the time comes to upgrade to 48v (cable replacements, cleaning all connections, repairing wires, possibly PQ Bandit upgrade, etc)

Body Update- clean/paint body, light kit for road use, back seat kit, etc (may even look into a full body kit once i see what the price difference will be)

Later on down the road I wouldnt mind either going 48v and making it as fast as possible. This will only see in town driving just to cruise the city streets.

My bad! I read INTRODUCTION and thought this was the introduction section.

These things are very well made. I wouldn't replace anything in the front or anywhere else that does not need it.

What is that bar etc. on the front? Looks like some sort of towing mechanism from a golf course.

I had to go back and double check my post. lol


All of the bushings under it are shot. The steering is very tough to turn as well. It could definitely use them.

Im not sure what that bar is, other than a tow attachment.....

There are completely bushing kits available.
You are right that is a tow attachment that the golf course uses. You can remove all of that.

Thigh steering could be just a good grease job and proper tire pressure. You will be able to find any parts you need from the site sponsor. There is a solid state conversion kit available also.

Yeah.... all the bushings are shot. I decided if im going to replace the bushings and buy new wheels and tires i might as well lift it and have all new components. Then ill just have to replace steering parts and itll all be new.

Do you happen to know what is different on a 1991 vs. 1993+ as far as body/suspension is concerned? Im seeing alot of parts descriptions saying 93+ and it seems like theres nothing different as far as I can see.
