EZGO TXT DCS studdering but won’t go
Hello,
We have a 1998 EZGO TXT DCS 36v golf cart that won’t move the tires when on the ground. If we jack up the rear end, the tires kind of studder move and if we give them a boost they start spinning fast. We have replaced the solenoid and ignition, which solves the clicking problem we weren’t always getting, but it still won’t move. The batteries are also brand new and do have a reference voltage of 38.3. When we did the M- to B+/- the voltage spread was only about 8 volts. Start at 0 and went to around 8 and then the other start around 35 and went down to 27. Does that mean there is an issue with the motor or what’s my next step in the problem solving process. Thank you! |

Only about 8V is being applied to the armature when full battery pack voltage (38.3V) you ought to be applied, so the problem is either a bad controller or a bad throttle input to the controller.
See attached to check ITS throttle. |

Re: EZGO TXT DCS studdering but won’t go
Tried a new ITS and no luck. What we did find now though is the blue wire coming out of the 10 pin connector has minimal voltage when I put the other probe on the battery negative, but if I put it to battery positive I get reference voltage. For the other colored wires in the 10 pin I get the reference voltage by using the battery negative. We have a resistor going between the 2 big solenoid terminals, but no diode between the 2 small. The golf cart ran fine before without having the resistor or diode.

Re: EZGO TXT DCS studdering but won’t go
When the pedal is pressed, Pin-7 (blue wire) connects B- to the solenoid coil, so when cart is ready to drive, but pedal is up, you should read pack voltage on Pin-7 if black test lead is connected to the battery pack's main negative terminal (B-) due to the voltage applied to the other side of the coil feeding through. When pedal is pushed, Pin-7 should drop to 0V.

Pin 7 showed 0 when the pedal was not being pushed.

Re: EZGO TXT DCS studdering but won’t go
Does Pin-5 (Green wire) have pack voltage on it when pedal is not pushed?
If it does, there is something amiss with the pedal switch. If it doesn't, the controller is bad. |
