Default Want to add additional 12v for lights and accessories

Hey guys and gals,

I have a like new Interstate 12v battery and I have an idea. I would like to add it in my battery compartment, just to power my lights.

I currently have the EZGO lights that mount below the front cowl. I am going with a workhorse type brushguard and going to mount some KC's or comparable lights.

I see there is extra room behind the drivers seat in battery compartment, what type of battery mount or strap do you guys use? Pics would help

For what its worth, I have a 97 TXT 36v

Thanks

You can use about any kind of battery strap. I personally buy a battery box from Wal mart or any auto parts store and just use self drilling screws to screw the box in place under the driver seat. I don't have any pics but hopefully you get what I mean.

Will this work if you have a rear seat? If so, did you have to remove the rear seat to install the battery in the box?

Here's what I used for straps for the two extra batteries I have under my front seat:

If you go that route, you'll still need a solid base, to keep it from sliding around, which the box already does.

Hal,

I get the jist of what you are saying. I will try that. Do you think a traditional 12v batt will be ok, or do you really feel a deep cycle one?

yurtle,

Thanks for the link. I really like that idea. No I don't have a back seat, yet. But it is in the near future.

I used a 12v 35AH glass mat battery from batteries plus. Weighs about 20lbs so relatively light. Deep cycle and no maintenance. Runs lights and a small amp for sound and speakers. In installed it as yurtle suggested. Deep cycle is the way to go. If you are going to install additional powerful lights you might need a higher capacity battery. There are many ways to do this.

Dawg, I'm glad you added the pic also. I'm thinking of using this same layout.
