Chrysler ignition module and voltage regulator on g2
As the title says i have figured out how to wire in a chrysler ignition module or ecm and voltage regulator to my g2 in place of the ever expensive not so reliable gutless yamaha igniter and that expensive over priced voltage regulator that is on the cart now. the new ignition parts will cost you under 30 bucks from auto zone and carry a lifetime warranty. you also are able to retain a rev limiter but it caps out at 5600 rpm instead of 3500.Also i have figured out how to get a more reliable regulation of the voltage by installing the chrysler voltage reg.I was going to use an HEI but the chrysler ignition box is better in many aspects.main one being is it is water proof and vibration proof not to mention being 10x more reliable and capable of handling way more voltage than any stock hei ever could. I will show the diagram i used later if any here are in need of it or if you are interested. The main reason i did the switch was not for performance it was because yamaha is a bunch of greedy A$$^%!$ and want way to much for their stuff .So not only is this a cheaper more affordable route its actually smarter and more efficient.

Re: Chrysler ignition module and voltage regulator on g2
g2 pinout.jpgAttachment 64868here ya go the pins are numbered one through five in a clockwise manner. I would also like to add that you have to mount the ign module to the frame as the case is the ground. any other questions just ask i would love to help. I have been using this setup for a week now without any problems. also female bullet connectors work to connect your wire ends to the module. You can use the dual pin ballast resistor as shown here and just leave the other side open until needed.Kinda like carrying a spare, but the single pole used on chrysler ignition systems until 71 works just as well.

Do you have part numbers. This sounds awesome.

Re: Chrysler ignition module and voltage regulator on g2
autozone part numbers for the ignition module are cr109 or cr100 either one works. if you look up the parts for a 72 6.6l roadrunner they are what i used. any ballast resistor will work off any year before 82. I will add pics of my setup soon. I am still working on my voltage regulator but that is a seperate system. i would also like to add i believe this will work with any golf car with electronic ignition.

Re: Chrysler ignition module and voltage regulator on g2
I purchased an old g2 from an auction as a non runner. Someone had cut out the old igniter so all I had was a bunch of wires. I did this Chrysler ignition installation and now it actually runs great. Thanks so much. The pic had me a little confused to start with, I thought it would be the module view but I think it's the plug view. I watched the video and figured it out, thanks again.

Re: Chrysler ignition module and voltage regulator on g2
I want to install the chrysler ignition module, but the diagram shows 5 pins on module and there are only 4. Also can I unplug the igniter and put spade connectors in the plug or do I need to splice it into the wire. I am new to golf carts, so any help will be appreciated. I came across a G2a 1986, that was in the brush for 10 some years.
Thank you Rich |

ballast resistor part number cr105 http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par.../N-intyiZ9n80t ignition module cr109 here are the parts needed .additional items would be one roll 14-16 ga wire and a box of bullet connectors in which you will need 4 of the female ends.you may also need some butt connectors and male and female spades. Re: Chrysler ignition module and voltage regulator on g2
How is the cold starting? My G2 hates the cold. I actually wired up a hidden toggle so I can fire it up and let it warm up before I can use it in the snow. I know I know it's not smart and it's dangerous and could cause major problems if left in gear. I used a CC FNR switch so it can't start with the switch in anything but neutral. It also is always parked in the back yard aimed at my old pos truck bed trailer just in case.
