Yamaha Frame Repair

I'm building a G2 for a buddy at work.Vegas 440,5"-Pachanga-Lift with 400EX shocks on all 4 corners.The frame was junk from the front body-mount to the curve ahead of the driver-rear tire(there was about 5" of it missing too).The crossmember for the swing-arm had chunks missing,and angle-iron hose-clamped to it,and the mounts were ready to tear off.We cut it apart this morning,bent up a new rail from 1-1/4" Sch.40 pipe.It fits perfect inside the factory frame-rail.Its' inside the frame about 4" in front,2" in back.Then we fish-mouthed another piece for the crossmember.We are going to slide the crossmember back,to re-center the axle in the wheel-well.We have to search thru the bins at work Monday and find bushings that will work in the swing-arm,since these are toast.Hopefully I can get the brackets and gussets made early next week(waiting on steel),and finish the motor-plate by the weekend.

It actually wasn't bad to do,maybe 2-3hrs,including BS-time.Gona do a stretch soon,Dad already told me to go thru the "Boneyard" and collect parts.

I have the same cart sitting waiting for the same frame repair..... Any way to make me two of those same pipes and ship them? Seriously....

I haven't got the invoice for the tubing yet,I'll let you know next week.

Nice work on the repair. You really had a mess there when you started. Makes me very glad that my G1 has a very clean frame.

Thanks,We bought a pair about 5yrs.ago,and this was the better of the 2,the other one was cut up,and I use the front section for suspension mock-ups.The scary part is all the angle-iron that was hose-clamped to the frame,and just as rusted,so it had been there a long time.Someone wanted to keep them going!The front and back sections still have original paint in nice condition.Good as new now,after we get the chassis finished,he blasting and painting it,so it will last forever(or until we kill it out back!!)
