Default No No's Yamaha Issues

Yes, now I'm getting a flow of Yamahas to work on. There is a guy that adjusted his governor and got more speed out of it. JF2 301967, which I was told is a 1993 G8. Anyway, he hasn't blow it up YET but he did go screwing with the fuel-air mixture on the carburetor. Since it's a G8, I'm guessing it has the 285. Could someone inform me about these a little bit?

THANKS! :)

He went and screwed around with the fuel-air mixture and now, and I quote "...it's running like $hit..."

If it is all stock, start with the air box. Make sure you have a good filter
and that the box is sealed tight. Check the spark plug or just replace it.
Put the cart in neutral run the engine and re-adjust the carb.

Thanks! I have a tune-up kit coming for the weekend of the 26th and I have spark plugs on hand. I might change the oil too, there's no telling how much gas he's dumped into the crankcase.

Does anyone have tips on an EASY way to replace an in-tank fuel filter on a Yamaha?

Remove the hose at the fuel pump, drain the tank, pull the old filter, break out all the paper filter part and glue, screw the plastic cup part back on the tank (make sure the rubber seal is still inside the cup part), and install an inline filter (like on a G16) somewhere between the tank and fuel pump.

Drain the gas and uunscrew the filter. What I did and others have done is
remove the paper element and screw the old housing back on then use an
inline fuel filter. Make life easier next time.
