G-8 running sluggish
Hi new to this, have been reading a long time now. It's time ask why I cant get this cart to run good. I took out the air box and installed K&N filter and new main jet, plug, belt, and new secondary spring and ramp shoes. Install jake lift kit and new 22" tires and rims. Took off cable to govner and rerouted gas pedal cable. Just seems to run real sluggish and no speed. Was a lot better before doing any of this. Any ideas? I have been reading all over this site to find someone with same problem.

Re: G-8 running sluggish
I have a G9 with all of the same modifictions that you listed. Mine too is running like crap, but it is from the jetting. From the information that I have gathered on this site and my local small engine guru, I need to keep increasing the main jet size until the cart runs properly. A few people on here have used the K&N filter and needed to drill out the stock jet to .042" and some others have needed .046". (From past experience with the stock airbox, these things a very finicky with fuel/air mixtures.)
I'm not sure if this is what your issue might be, but you might want to look in to it. Good luck. |

Re: G-8 running sluggish
I could only suggest primary clutch. Take off clutch can and see if weights (3) are in working order. You should be able to tell if one or more is broken, bent or loose by comparing all 3.
Then 1 shot of grease in the zirk to make sure the scheave slides on the shaft, put it back together and try driving it again. Did you grease secondary clutch? Is the throttle cable adjusted correctly? Are the motor mounts broken? Is the torque cable there and adjusted? The more I sit here the more I think of! Water under the bridge now, but the way to do high performance work is to do small steps at a time and test to make sure your getting the desired effect from each single modification that you perform. |

I didn't look at the primary clutch but i will,I followed directions when doing the secondary and greased. The throttle seams adjusted right, opens all the way. The motor mounts look to be ok but how do you tell if broken? And what is the torque cable and where is it located.

Re: G-8 running sluggish
Motor mounts are soft and allows the motor to move quite abit. hard to tell if broken other than prying up on them gently with a bar and looking to see if the rubber is torn.
The torque cable is over the front left motor mount, just under the air cleaner mount. It is a small maybe 3" long cable that restricts engine movement toward the rear(allowing the drive belt to loosen). I replaced mine with a 5/16"x3" long bolt welded to a short piece of strap steel with a hole in it for the cross bolt.Sorry I had pictures of it, but my darling daughter deleted them on my computer, so I have to go out and take them again. But if you go to Spriddles sticky(at I think, bottom of stickys list) you will see what I'm talking about |
