first time big block build Q@A
is a 26 hrs koler a good start and will parts be hard to find like the clutch and cables and what ever it takes to get it running?

That's a big-un. You will have to goggle it and find out the shaft size and compare that to what is available. I just did an Robin 25 and had a sleeve made to adapt a big clutch I found... If you are getting a bargain and the motor is in good shape it may well be worth the EXTRA effort it is going to take to put it together IMHO Kohler makes good engines and I think some of their stuff is interchangeable with the B&S Vanguard?
