The only waste of your money, it sounds like, would be to buy the motor combo from him without getting some answers from a few of the our knowledgable veterans to the buggy world and shopping around a little bit.

yes That is what I am hoping for!!! I am pretty gulible so I would like to hear from those who have "been there-done that"... As opposed to someone selling me something out of their current inventory
I wish I could say "Money is not an object" in my choices, but the more I save the more the kid gets for race mods and parts... I just don't want to have the kid push the cart back to camp!!!

Get the 500 amp controller, but be sure it will operate at 36 OR 48 volts. This way when batteries are at the end of their life or funds permit you can raise to 48 volts. Use your original motor, it will like the extra 12 volts giving you more speed and torque. At 48 volts and a good 500a controller you could climb a tree with it. If you still want more speed Emp can rebuild your original motor cheaper than you can buy a new one, and can make it switchable between torque and speed.
Also you could reverse the order, use your current controller with Emp rebuild, and if thats not enough, then raise amps and voltage.

I popped the Hood and now need some help with identifying these parts...
I can see I have the 36 volt solenoid, as it is clearly marked. How do I identify the black Box, which by process of elimination, I am sure is the controller... Do I hook and volt meter to it some how? Ohm meter??? or is it easily distinguished by it's size???

They don't make the controller switch, the motor has a split field. When the motor is wired one way it has a larger field which produces more torque....wired the other way the field is small and promotes more RPM....the switching is done via an extra F/R switch. OR you can get a reversing contactor to make the switch with the flip of a button.

See post #13 above... I googled some and looks like these type are programmable and pricey... I have read that adding the batteries in the bagwell, and a 48 volt soliniod from Napa will help...
Then I might splurge on the controller... I wonder if the stock controller will like the 48 volts???
