If your campground is like the place I stay, drink less beer and the cart goes slower and will not do stupid things!!!

I would suggest that before you start spending cash that you should (or get someone to ) look at the gasket between the exhaust pipe and the cylinder. This gets very hot and over a period of time will perish. Your volume and your backfire could be down to a $3 part.
As far as the speed is concerned you can either back offf the pedal or adjust the governor, if it is still fitted. Personally I would just go easy with the throttle

The gasket are costly over $20. Mine only lasted a year.

Ooops, my bad, sincere apologies, I forgot that some folks don't drive EZGO. Still it kind of defies belief that one gasket can cost 10 times another.

I'll say. The MSRP for that exhaust gasket is only $13.90.

Try & take the gasket-I'm guessing it's the doughnut-to an auto parts store & match it up-I got 1 for mine for $3... Sorry but I don't remember what car it was for -look toward small 4cyl older import-a little bigger & trim it down.
Hope that helps a little.
Oh yeah, beer cans make great head gaskets!!! raises the comp a little too.....
