Cool Re: Shorter Belts and 28 degree driven clutch

I just installed my 1" shorter belt and it makes a big difference. Along with the govenour adjustment the "seat of the pants" feeling is great. Top end is way up and out of the hole is much better. Thanks for the tips!

I think this post answers my question, but I will ask anyways. Will installing a 1" shorter belt hurt my top end speed?

No, it may be a few mph slower untill the belt breaks in.

Sorry to bring this long exhausted thread back to life. But I just thought I would put the Napa part number question to rest as well...

you might want to fix the link. it must have been a search list and now it doesn't show anything.....the mystery remains.

I went to my local EZGO dealer and they looked up the belt for my cart and the book said it was part 27077-G02 which is the second belt listed. I went ahead an bought it ($41 ouch). When I removed the existing belt you could see the new belt was a little wider and a little shorter. Put the belt on and now it can do some things it couldn't do before. has more low end torque!

use that link and then go to Partspro SE on the left side. There you can look thru the belts that Napa has.

Ruredy -
What was the yamaha belt you were referring to in the starting post, I need a belt that will allow me to pull a Jet Ski up a boat ramp, The belt I got now is very loose and is able to touch the frame on the bottom, this cart is vverry slow to start but pick ups speed later. (Used cart that was given to me)

EZGO 4cycle OHC GXT 804 D Marathon - New Project for me

I installed the shorter belt on a 85 Ez Go now the cart seems to have a slower pickup like the belt is slipping. It also now has a light squeal when starting and seems to lurch while starting. Any suggestions on whats wrong?
