Default 83 Club Car battery area project

New to the forum, my intro is over on the intro page...... So I picked up an 83 CC 36v for dirt cheap (project to say the least) Cart is complete with working motor and charger. I've got it tore down to a rolling chassis and slowly starting my build. 1st order of business, battery box area! Oxidation had **** near ate it up.......broke out the grinder/sanding wheel and went to work removing all the cancer. the main braces running side to side are mostly intact however the pieces that were running front to back that the batteries actually sit on are history. Now I am trying to decide if I should rivet/carriage blot in new angle aluminum or could i use something like 3/4 inch treated plywood to make more of a floor pan for the batteries???? What say ya'll???
