Default Let's get this Pink EZ GO running right!

Hey I am a proud new owner of a 1998 txt ez-go... and yea it is Pink??? Long story short My 13 year old son races Motocross and he "had to have it"!!! Before We get into all the snide comments about the Pink watch this clip of me 20 years ago!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h20EgSXDmA
Would be kinda hypocritical of me to tell my son anything huh??? LOL! An introduction to My son... http://sponsorhouse.loopd.com/Member...9/Default.aspx
OK, back to the task at hand! We want to get this little 36 volt golf car juiced up and jacked up! This thing as it is, stands out and that's what We want! If you are unfamiliar with MX It is an expensive sport! I found this out AFTER I promised the kid we'd "get er done" if his grades were right!!! They were!!!
We want this golf cart to serve two purposes! First to get us around the various MX tracks through out Texas, Oklahoma and beyond! Number two reason is to use this as a promotional tool for my Son's Sponsors! That's where we need the help and advise from the experts here! I am a regular contributor on another forum specific to the old Honda Pilot's and Odyssey's www.pilotodyssey.com
First thing We'll have to do is get a lift kit and tires. I am hoping some suggestions regarding the different products will come forward!
Do the kits with 4 tires have a way to get more rear clearance over what the tires provide?
Is there a block of some kind that lifts the rear included?
I have the rear facing seat, but am not sure if the previous owner had installed the heavier springs??? Are there certain markings I need to look for?
For trail riding on an electric cart, is the a-arm front end worth the extra $$$
I was told the batteries are 2-3 years old So I am thinking of replacing the 6 volters with 8 volt x 6 to give me the 48 volt I have read on here... Just couldn't find if my 36 volt charger will work with this battery setup!!!

Thank You for taking the time to read this!!!

David & Dakota

Pic's will come as soon as I figure out how to get them off the phone!!!

We need to know if your cart is a Series power system? Where is the F/R switch? This will make a big difference on whether or not you will want to pursuit the whole 48v thing And Welcome aboard!

The switch is under seat/legs in the middle... charger recepticle is under drivers side seat...

OK I have decided to start off with this lift kit from everythingcarts
http://www.everythingcarts.com/p-929...eel-combo.aspx
with the black rims. Sorry about no pictures, I haul heavy equipment for a living and sometimes I have to get up and go to get a load before I get everything on my "to-do" list...
I liked this option because I needed taller tires and hopefully this will save time and shipping??? I am hoping to try the tires on my Honda Odyssey also...
Do these kits do anything to the rear, or is it just the larger tire that adds the extra height to the rear? Is there a spacer that goes under the spring like the older 4x4 trucks use?

I have seen a few on here adding 12 volt battery to give them 48 volts... then they just disconnect and recharge the 36, and 12 separately??? I am guessing this saves buying a 48 volt charger???
I have seen the 400 amp controller, and states some are not for use with lift kits??? Why is this? will I be needing to buy the controller for a lift FIRST before I buy the lift and tires???
Thanks for the guidance!!!
Oh I see by the reverse switch style I have a fleet car??? which I am not sure what that means???

Fleet means you have a series motor cart. You will need a controller specifically for a '98 series cart and for whatever voltage you decide to run. I suggest this is the first move. Power first - then lift. It is very disappointing to lift and wheel up only to find you have all show and .....u know

will the lift and tire rob that much power from the current settup???
The track we go to the most is real hilly and rough. with some small sand spots. Will the local dealer have these parts???

Scotty is right. Power up first and as much as you can. You'll be glad you did, especially with the terrrain you're describing.

I called the ez go dealer in San Antonio and the service man stated I'd be better off getting a 500 amp controller instesad of dumping money on the 48 volts???

Get the 500 amp controller, but be sure it will operate at 36 OR 48 volts. This way when batteries are at the end of their life or funds permit you can raise to 48 volts. Use your original motor, it will like the extra 12 volts giving you more speed and torque. At 48 volts and a good 500a controller you could climb a tree with it. If you still want more speed Emp can rebuild your original motor cheaper than you can buy a new one, and can make it switchable between torque and speed.
Also you could reverse the order, use your current controller with Emp rebuild, and if thats not enough, then raise amps and voltage.

Thank you!!! Exactly kind of advise I was looking for...
I didn't know they made the controller with that option???
I popped the Hood and now need some help with identifying these parts...
I can see I have the 36 volt solenoid, as it is clearly marked. How do I identify the black Box, which by process of elimination, I am sure is the controller... Do I hook and volt meter to it some how? Ohm meter??? or is it easily distinguished by it's size???
