Default 2008 EZGO ST Sport

I'm knew to the cart world and I know that these questions have been asked before but please bear with me and provide a newbee with some advice.

I would like to make my cart go a little faster.

I would like to see what I can do that wouldn't hurt the motor since it has only 1 or 2 hours on it.

If I change to a shorter belt will that give me anymore speed? Or should I change the clutch?

I understand that this will probably void my warranty.....but would like to run a little faster.

Thanks!!!

Just what are you expecting out of your new ST Sport? Have the dealership adjust your govenor - you just spent $6K - $7K on a cart. If they won't help you, then call our shop for the correct setup. I am affraid for you on some of the advice that will come from this thread.

Mike,

Thank you so much for your response, I called the dealership and asked them about adjustments he said that they would adjust the governor and tighten the belt. He just wouldn't tell me how much faster it will go...do you have any idea as to what those adjustments would do? He also said that as long as he did the adjustments and service it wouldn't void the warranty.

Again thanks for your honesty!!!!!

No - That's not what I was saying. I am only acting as a Factory Authorized Service Center for EZGO in saying that FIRST, he needs to go to the dealership for adjustments. Wrenching on a $7,000.00 cart pruely on forum advice can get this new member in serious trouble with his warranty. I do think we have more experience with carts than 99% of the people in here, so take my advice as you want. I never meant to offend you, as you definately know your stuff Ruredy...

Well Mike, my advise would be the same as yours with getting the dealer to do the adjustment so not to void the warranty. It just seemed to me you had assumed he would be getting bad advice from this forum, and while we may not have all the answers to peoples questions, I do put forth a effort in making sure no one gets harmful information or at least understands the repercussion of such actions.

Geeze - I can't believe this. Did I say that only 1% knows something here? No - I said that we (from everyday experience as a golf cart dealership) probably know of and have seen more than 99% of the members here. How many people visiting this forum are dealing with a NEW cart? Not many, so sound advice from a NEW CAR dealership is what needed to be said. No offense was intended...

Ok, I see what Mike is trying to say here. He's a dealer and looking in the best interest of the customer of a new ST Sport, which does cost in the neighborhood of 6 to 7 grand. I don't think he was saying we give bad advice. Of course, I will admit, sometimes I'm a good guesser at some questions. When it comes to Ezgo's we all turn to Ruredy: he's the Ezgo man around here. I know what I would do if it were my personal cart and still under warrantee (6 to 7 grand invested) and the dealer said he would make the adjustments and still honor the warrantee: take it to the dealer. As soon as it is out of warrantee, adjustments and mod city.
