Ok, did you get the “gold” metal box regulator?

There is an adjustment screw on the side of those that may need to be turned to adjust the output voltage.
Make sure the regulator is getting 12v input on the red wire.
Make sure the black wire is grounded properly.

Yes. The gold box. I wondered what that screw was for. Do I just tighten in for more voltage?

Best I can get is 12.7v at 3/4 throttle. Broke the voltage regulator. Put the old one back in.

Every connection on this cart is spotless. I'm not sure what else it could. I have used 2 different meters also.

OEM starter or aftermarket?

If you bought online 150 bucks or so....Thats your issue, those things are junk. Ive had customers have me out to fix a charge issue after they have changed the starter. First thing I say is " do you have your old starter" Which I proceed to put back in.
Id start there.

I also bought a load tester. Battery is good. Has a 2020 sticker on it.

Yes, off amazon. The old starter generator is aftermarket too. Half tempted to put a smaller pulley on the SG

Try running a new wire from the DF post straight to the regulator. Maybe something going on in the yellow wire. I would also try running a new ground wire for the case as well as the black wire pin straight to the battery negative.
Since the starter gen gives full voltage when the DF post is grounded, this leaves either wiring or the regulator as faulty.
Also possible to have a bad battery cable or poor connection at the solenoid. Make sure the ground cable connection to the frame is clean and tight, that is a common place for a bad connection since it is hard to see and located near the battery.

You can also install the newer style solid state regulator in that cart, you just need to provide a clean ground for the case. The other wiring is the same function.

Thank you for all the info.

I ran a new yellow wire. Grounded regulator directly to the battery. Added a ground to the case for when I order the new regulator. Every ground on this cart has been 100% cleaned. Still the same 12.7v.

What regulator do I need to order. That will be my last try on this.
