To revive an older thread, my insurance agent called me a couple days ago, and said that Travellers is writing policies for golf carts in Florida. My total for the golf cart is now $315 for six months, and that's including $95 for collision, which I am considering dropping. Much better than the $400 I was paying for Safeco.

I have mine with progressive, much cheaper in Jax. I didn't take collision either, figured if hit the frame would be toast for sure and many other parts.

Wow, $300 for six months? That's what it costs for my 2010 F250 in east central Missouri. My agent added "financial liability" insurance for our cart for $50 a year. And it reduced our car and pickup insurance by $84 a year total. It saved us money to insure the cart.

Just outside of Baton Rouge, thru State Farm, I pay $65/year for 50K liability and $8000 comp/collision/theft

Florida is the arm pit of the country when it comes to drivers. I pay over $3000 every 6 months to insure 4 cars with 4 drivers. All clean driving records. And none are terrible expensive cars.

It is just a crappy place to buy insurance.

Bringing the old thread back.
So after reading all the posts over and over again, I'm ready to go. What I have learned since.... at least here in my hood. I had to call my regional DMV office which is in Palmetto, about 2 1/2 hrs from here to request the paper work to be emailed to me. It's all there and is very easy to comprehend, all the paper work is highlighted that needs to be filled out so it takes the guess work out of it. All paper work must be filled out, cart in street legal form along with pictures for proof, bill of sale, invoices showed paid for any aftermarket parts you actually installed yourself and weight ticket. Only after all is completed, the paper work has to be snail mailed back to them to be approved. Once approved they will call you for the inspection appointment. As of now appointments are only about a week out. For me, I completed everything last night and now have to find time to have it weighed and my paper work will be off.
Estimated insurance coverage from Farm Bureau as of yesterday is $693 per 6 months.
Will keep you posted.

$60 a year?!? Are you sure you got a quote for a Low speed vehicle (LSV) or did you get a price for a golf cart? There is a difference. $60 a year seems way low!
