1941 Willys Original Metal Body Full Restoration SEDAN !!!!
What with a foot of snow coming tonight and tomorrow, I figured I'd throw this up here *just* to see if it generated any interest before I have to bite the bullet and pay for another winters storage ... This was my Dad's Baby that I bought from the Estate a few years back (along with other toys) - it's a 96-point 1941 Willys 441 Plainsman frame-off restoration, I have a million photos if anyone is genuinely interested. The back-story is pretty cool, Dad and my Uncle co-bought this car BRAND NEW in 1942, sold it in 1950 - and Dad tracked it down and bought it out of a farmyard in 1982 !!! We're talking pre-internet times, Willy's World Magazine, tons of letters and phone calls, etc - kinda cool as Hell, I actually have the original Bill of Sale that goes w the car !!!
20161102_141933.jpg 20161102_141641.jpg 20161102_141715.jpg 20161103_160729.jpg 20161102_141759.jpg SO .... The car was driven by Mom and Dad to shows, etc routinely til Dad passed 12 years ago, then for another year or so w Mom to shows, etc until she started having problems herself ... It ended up being "safe-kept" by one of the Evil Sisters (long story - sordid "Estate Tales" if You will) until it was returned at Moms death 3 years ago and I purchased it with the rest of the cars. The bad news is even though it was stored correctly and suffered no cosmetic Ills, it was also never run so of course, coolant leaked down into #3 and frosted it up solid, Master and Cylinders dried out w the brakes, etc - which all in all set me back about $4400 all told to get straightened out (and for which I of course have all receipts as well as any original parts that were replaced with reproductions). As it is now, the car fires up drives runs and stops better than new, the cylinders are .040 over though so the L134 that came with the car has maybe 1 more rebuild left in her - that's the only regret I have with this car. At the time of Moms passing, the car was appraised at $27,500 but of course, that's just a number the insurance company and Estate had to have, I'm realistically looking to find it a good home somewhere in that $15k range, might even go down a bit for fast cash if I can avoid having to store it all winter. PM if You have any questions, I really hate to see this one go BUT I have the 63 Caddy Convertible, the 67 T-bird, the 57 T-bird and the 64 Lincoln to keep me company |

Re: 1941 Willys Original Metal Body Full Restoration SEDAN !!!!
Some pics from the photoboards, MAN this thing was a mess when Dad finally found it ... I was in HS at the time, didn't have my license yet *thank GOD* so I got to ride in the back of the pickup all the way to WV to go get it instead of helping with the drive, My Nephew rode with, we were just kids so we ENTIRELY mis-estimated how much grass we could safely smoke in the back of a pickup on a roadtrip with my oblivious parents, LOL... Pretty sure the Farmer who had the car either didn't like us and was a pretty together Pot guy himself, though because he screwed with Me and my Nephew like nothing I'd ever seen or didn't again for a good chunk of my life - or he was just a pretty smart Dick who didn't like us. One of the two, LOL. Either way it was a roadtrip I'll never forget

Cool car and GREAT story. My Grandfather worked at Willys Overland through the 50's and in to the 60's. I have become a Willys collector myself but my stuff needs complete restorations.
