I plan on using a kit for the swap, and understand a lift may be required

Why buy a tired honda for $500 when you can get a new VC 625 for $700 ?

I'd take a tired Honda, [if it IS tired], freshen it up and have a motor that will run for another 4 or 5 thousand hours over a chicom any day.

So, I guess the answer is yes, it's the type of engine that can work. I might be able to haggle the price too.

Who sells the best install kit? I can fab, but dont feel like reinventing the wheel. I'd rather have my son see a relatively smooth install to get him hooked on wrenching.
He can always see the other way of doing things on another project.

Very Low rev limit and no way around it.That is why you just don't see it done here very often. Not much in the way of installation kits either. One way you have all the tech support in the world the other way you have almost none. P.S A 3rd option would be to use an inexpensive honda 390 clone with selected parts from a vegascarts install kit. Some where in the clone section here we figured how to do a bolt in for about $700

I can get behind a swap totaling $700. Guess I'll start researching the archives

A low rev limit isn't a dealbreaker. Some kids might end up driving this.

We have over 100,000 members here. See how many are running a V twin honda. It should tell you something. BUT if it is really what you want to do it. GO for it. P.S You can look at vegascarts site for the swap for cart's installation guide for pics of just what the swap entails with a clone.

Any V-twin is better than a clone, bolt patterns are all the same for a clone or V-twin I think.I have a 23 Vanguard in mine + 200 hours, all I,ve done is basic maintance.
