Re: cheap plasma cutter
110 volt should cut 1/4" with no problem.
The Plasma cutter I have is both 110 and 220 but I only run it on 220. Mine just has a pigtail that I plug the 220 plug into then plug into 110. Nothing wiring wise to go from one to the other. Mine also has an automatic air adjust so not anything I have to play with to get right. I did pay quite a bit more than $300 |

Re: cheap plasma cutter
Think i'll get one. Been reading up and there is people blowing these up but also many people having good luck. Also alot of the bad reports are from back as far as 2009. Im sure the kinks have been worked out pretty good by now.

Re: cheap plasma cutter
Ok i bought a cut-50f. 299$ on ebay and supposedly comes with a year warranty from the seller. I am already thinking of alot of stuff i would have done if i had a plasma, stuff that would have been much easier or turned out much better with plasma and stuff that i can do now with it. Now i just need to get a AC Tig welder..

Re: cheap plasma cutter
Have fun! I see mine must be a d model I guess standing for digital. It looks like the d has an air pressure gauge on the front and the f does not.Mine also has a 1 year warranty also but who can say what that means.

Re: cheap plasma cutter
I think thats only a DC tig. They are much cheaper than the AC tigs. I need a AC tig to do aluminum right.

Re: cheap plasma cutter
Wow, there are a lot of choices on these units. Can you post some links to the specefic ones you bought? Your reviews some sound promising, for that kind of money, it might be hard to get away from.

Re: cheap plasma cutter
Youtube has several of these machines on it. Some users doing reviews after 2 years. Some users that have high dollar units at work who feel these later cheaper units work better. It also appears that many 50 amp plasma units are the same machine with different paint jobs and labels.
