![]() Why is it people buy a cart and then ask for advice?
![]() For once someone should say 'hey I'm thinking about buying a golf cart in need of a lot of repairs which was made by a company which doesn't exist anymore. How hard will it be for me to get OEM and aftermarket parts? ' ![]() |

![]() I love this $!!& .I done boats the same way.I guesss its some sort of sickness.I bought the cart mainly for the frame, body and tires.Looking at the electrical my wife thought I was crazy but thats just me I am a sucker of lost causes.I have been looking at buying one for a while mainly for use around my farm. Sure I could have bought a better looking one but then it wouldn't be me.

![]() Parts, Schmarts, He didn't say anything about getting parts... ;)
Maybe he just wanted to pull the cart behind a horse, or in this case, put the cart before the horse. LOL It looks like you're on the right track burst, don't let us discourage you! You stripped it and cleaned it, and you're obviously willing to put in the sweat equity, so you're halfway there! I would try to locate wiring diagrams for your cart, and I hope you made good diagrams of what you removed already, so you are sure to get it back together the way it went. I suggest inspecting any moving electrical parts and cleaning all the contacts by lightly sanding them. Do this either on or off the cart, your choice (on is safer for not losing track of wiring, off is easier to get to everything properly). Test any and ALL microswitches on the cart, also the solenoid/s (and/or controller if it has one). Check all existing wiring (that you intend to keep) for any damage, especially at the ends where the ring terminals are attached. If there is any corrosion or heat damage (burned areas, blistering, dried out and cracking, etc.), replace it. Upgrade to 4ga wiring or larger throughout, get GOOD batteries (Trojan brand is the most recommended), and HAVE FUN. Yes, plastic can be painted, search this site for suggestions on painting plastic, there are several threads about it. Welcome to the forums, and ENJOY! |

![]() You don't have to wire it per Melex. You can wire it for a standard series system and it will work perfectly.
Theres alot of people that use krylon "Fusion" to paint there bodies....its the cheaper alternative. |
