2-Link rear suspension pics with questions
I took some pictures of the utv sold at a local Atwoods farm supply. It only had two connection points. One in the front of the swingarm and a link on the left side connecting the top of the axel to a midpoint in the chassis. Doesn't seem like that would be sufficient for keeping the axel in place.

4 rear coilover shocks, huh.... hmmmm.
Seems like the cart rides primarily on the mid section.....Then the other bar is kind of a pan hard bar?? |

That's what I was thinking. The shocks are so stiff I couldn't get the suspension to move much at all. Definitely didn't need 4 shocks. I shook the rear of the utv side to side to see if any lateral movement was noticeable but didn't see any.

It rides that rough do to the fact that they put 4 oversprung shocks out back...I wonder who the CEO could be...can't believe no one can make a reputable company that makes atvs utvs in the states that are worth a sh*t.

Sorry for the language in my last post about this subject. I just can't believe someone would sell a product using the American name and not have any R&D for issues like non functional suspension. The company is also referred to as American Sportworks.

Re: 2-Link rear suspension pics with questions
It looks like a triangulated 3 link, but the outer links have some triangulation as well (not parallel, would this cause binding or restrict articulation?). A few people on here have built similar set ups for rear suspension, albeit with parallel link bars. The engine cradle acts like the triangulated third link, locating the axle and restricting side to side movement similar to many golf carts.
Personally I don't care for the bends in the links. This introduces potential failure points in the link and they would be much stronger without any bends. The mounts could have been designed to accommodate stronger straight links. It seems like a lazy design with a little more effort to put bends in during fabrication. This is just my opinion though so take it as such. Kelly |
