Do I need a new clutch
I made an earlier post about difficulty locating a primary clutch flange, I am wondering now if looking for a used one is going to make sense. When you run your hand across the one I have now there is a slight indentation/wear that can be felt, but not much. I don't know what the tolerances are for this, perhaps if there is any wear at all it is supposed to be changed, not sure. I know I want this cart operating perfectly, but if I get a used flange it is likely to have wear on it too.
Should I just not worry about it? I am changing the belt but I don't want any clutch issues. I also thought about having one machined from scratch but who knows what that would cost, I wish I could find a new one. |

Re: Do I need a new clutch
You Probably don't need one. Lay a straight edge on the face and if the space under it exceeds 1/8 inch you need one. 1/16 inch is HD's spec. but I use them a little more. Just make sure that the bushing is good and the studs are not stripped.
