Default Harley /Columbia Ignition Module "Rebuild"?

Here's one that I'm throwing out there.
Has anyone with a little more of an electronics background ever thought of trying to "Rebuild" the module on the Harley/Columbia carts?

I've done a little research & found a little info on the parts,it seems that the Hall effect switch is what goes bad,but I'm not positive what would actually "blow" to make the module go bad.
Just an Idea to see if the parts are available at Radio Shack or something & solder the new component in.

A lot better than $200+ or converting to pionts (which I am doing now!)

Maybe I just have too much time on my hands

I've attached a few pix & a data sheet I found that seems to be for the HES.
Just an Idea,Any feedback & or ideas would be great!

Thanks All!!!!

That module but he uses a ford pick up coil as a trigger. It fires 90 degrees off so he had to mount it on the opposite side as the points. He uses the points cam as the trigger point. The only problem is the dots are no longer used and you have to find tdc and build a pointer but then you just use a dial back timing light. He built it as a test so it was mostly guesses. If you could somehow find exactly the opposite point on the points plate you could make it work as per stock and in reality leave the points incase you would have trouble. I need to get mine running good and then I will swap mine too. I really don't think it is too complicated though.

Any luck with the ignition fix? I think that I am in the same boat. I have not taken it a part yet to tell if it is bad. But no spark from the coil. Have 12v on the + side.
