Question How often do you add water to your batteries?

Curious how often some of you add water to your batteries and how much distilled water do you typically go through in a year?

My Trojans have the watering system which I tried for the first time tonight. It seemed like my batteries took a lot of water, as-in like almost a gallon of distilled water.

The older they get the more water they will use. You need to add more often if they took that much.

How often is often enough? Is is this a once per month occurrence or once every 3 mo? Just trying to get a sense of frequency.

It depends on your batteries usage. Try once a week and see how much it takes. Always fill AFTER charging not before. I don't like watering systems though.

Because the level goes up when you charge and they will be overfilled if you fill before you charge.

When i got my fleet cart, it came with a watering system installed and i was proud to have it. Later i've learned on here, why it's a bad thing in a golfcar. Use the search function ( exploded batteries ) for more information.

Hydrogen gas can collect in those watering system tubes and a spark can ignite it. IMO these watering systems are a bad idea. Most do have floats that show if the batteries need water though. You always want those plates covered.
