Default Motor replaced

I have a friend who bought a refurbished 2017 yamaha cart two years ago with new trojan batteries.
It had the Hitachi motor on it and they got the cart stuck and burned that motor up. They brought it to my shop and right away I could see the motor was toast.
He got on amazon and ordered a D & D replacement for it and told me the wires were different but they connected them to what they thought was right. I think he said the new motor had four posts and his old one didn't but I will have to ask again on that.
He said it will run ok but shut off after using it for a few minutes. He can flip the two switch and it will run a short time again and then same thing.
I told him I needed more info and he texted me this. Said it was all he could find. Model # DR2E17 2016
Any idea what he has ? I can find out more from him tomorrow .

No idea without more info. I have D&D motors in both of my Yamaha Drive carts, 2009 and 2012. They are Sepex motors (A1, A2, F1, F2) They should look the same hookup wise as the Hitachi motor that they replace!

The new motor should have the same number of wires and cables as the motor it is replacing or it is probably the wrong motor

They now tell me they got an AMD motor.
1996-17 Yamaha G19-G20-G22-G29-Drive 48v - Advanced Electric Motor

They called the people they bought it from and they tell him he needs this adapter.
I will post back when I find out more.
Here is the adapter they say he needs.

That adapter is for the speed sensor on the back end of the motor.
