Default 82 harley davidson

has anybody fix a harley that wont hardley go foward but will run like hell in reverse with a new piston? It has 120 and 110 lbs compression now. The timing is set dead in the middle and been thur the card and clutch. The points set at .017 and tried at .020 with nothing any better.

points on an 82 (if original condition) should be .015 to .016. sounds like timing is still off.

1) Remove the spark plug and the points cover.
2) Rotate piston to TDC and attach a test light to ground and points arm.
3) Rotate the engine counter-clockwise beyond the point where the points close and the test light lights
4) Turn engine back slowly to the point that the test light goes out.
5) Tab on points cover should be centered on timing marks of fan housing.
