Default Gear ratio question and stock rear end strenth

Hi,

I am nearly finished my 1993 ezgo marathon to farm vehical conversion.
I have put a 250cc Chinese quad engine with reverse, which I originally mated with a live quad axle that had a gear ratio of 3.66:1. This was nearly impossible to drive because the gearing was too tall and it wouldn’t go up hills. It’s a manual transmission and the clutch was hating it. I have bought the biggest rear and smallest front sprockets that would fit and it’s still horrible to drive.

Has anyone used the stock Dana differential/axle for a conversion like this.
The engine is 11.5kw @6500rpm, which is a lot more than the 2.5hp stock electric motor that revs to 2800rpm.
Would the stock axle be able to handle this extra stress?
If so could I weld the diff for extra traction?
I have read the gear ratio is 10.5:1 on these rear ends. The quad engine gear ratios range from 2.909-0.9545:1.
I plugged some calculations into a spread sheet and worked out that 1st gear would travel roughly 13mphr @6000rpm and 5th gear would go 39mphr on 22” tires.
I am wondering If this sounds correct and would this be suitable for a farm application.
I will be using a jack shaft / output shaft extension so I can change this gearing if needed.

Thanks for your help.

11.5 kw = 15+ hp. A built Vanguard V-Twin has a lot more. I don't see a problem with the hp.

Looks like you have two identical threads here. I commented on the other one.
