Coil overs on rear?
Is there any reason not to use coil overs on the rear? I notice they only market the coil overs as front end.
Thanks |

Re: Coil overs on rear?
Dela, a coil over is designed to be used IN PLACE OFF a leaf spring. So you may end up with a stiff ride being that you are doubling the springs. Other than that no reason not to.

Re: Coil overs on rear?
You can run the coil-overs with the leafs,Yes it will be stiff, yes,it will carry more weight,It will not handle as well empty, since the rear will be so stiff,it will push a little when turning,so going slower when turning is a must(You are eliminating weight-transfer with stiffer-suspension).Hope this helps.

Re: Coil overs on rear?
Dela, I put the coil overs on a 1999 ez go,This is mostly stock.I have converted it to 48 volts. My cart is only use on the golf course. With these shocks, the front end does not bottom out like before.I have not noticed any problems with the steering.Hope this helps.

Re: Coil overs on rear?
Help me out here, if you are only using coil overs on the rear, then what is holding your rear axle to the frame? Please correct or show me if I'm wrong.

Re: Coil overs on rear?
In the stock configuration, the coils sit in pockets on the frame and axle, the length of the shock prevents the coil from falling out(the shock mounts to the frame, and swing-arm at the axle). Now take the coil and the shock off, install a coil-over shock in place of the previous setup.Coil-Overs are on most ATVs',Motorcycles,Race-Cars,etc...Hope this helps.
