Default Linear Actuator

OK so this might not be the correct area for my question but please forgive me since I am new, and then tell me where to put it:)

Anyway, I am looking at using a Linear actualtor to raise and lower my seat, has anyone done this? Does an actuator lock in position? Why am I looking to do this? Well when I pull my cart I like to load it backwards and this would save me from wiring down the seat all the time.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

The unit I have on my dump bed powers out to lift and powers in to lower and will hold at any point in between,so I assume if you buy a push/pull type it should serve your purpose.

Where did you get yours? Brand? Cost?

I bought mine off Ebay for $185 or so but it is a 1000 # lift capicty and you don't need anything near that big for a seat.Just search the internet & Ebay and see what comes up,there's plenty of them out there you just have to look.

I did this on my buggie, bought mine from http://www.progressiveautomations.com after seeing someone else mention it on a different thread. I bought the 400 pound one which was more then enough for me. the stroke size will depend on how high you want your seat to go. the unit does stop at any position you want and holds the weight. i bought it for 128.99. hope this helps, good luck!

Just a thought what if your battery dies and the seat is down.
