Amp draw on batt.?
I apolognize in advance....I know this info. is somewhere in these forums already!
Does a higher amp controller burn the batts. down that much quicker than say a lesser. A little more info: On 48volts, stock motor,...is more than 500amps a bigger draw on the batts. or only when you upgrade the motor. For future upgrades, bigger is better right....or is it overkill. |

Re: Amp draw on batt.?
It will draw more amps if its needed. If you have a 500 amp controller and a stock motor it will only "use" around 400-450 ish amps max. So your run time will be about the same as stock. Now add a hot motor capable of pulling lots of amps and your run time will decrease.

Re: Amp draw on batt.?
Roady,
Thank....as I thought, just wanted to make sure. So, going with something like 650 isn't going to make a real difference until I up the motor and then cables, solenoid, f/r, etc. I'm on a budget these days....one piece at a time. LOL. |

Re: Amp draw on batt.?
Exactly. It may use an UNnoticable amount but as soon as you start using a hotter motor the run time will decrease.
Your right foot will be the biggest factor in the decrease in run time. LOL! |
