Adding LED lights
So I am working on getting LED lights added to my cart. After some trial & error I figured out that I needed a 48 to 12 step down converter in order to get them to run properly. Order one that was highly rated on Amazon and when hooking it up I followed the including instructions but there was a good bit of sparking and the converter had some liquid that shot out of it with a weird battery acid kind of smell.
Did I get a bad converter? Did I do something wrong? Anyone have any advice on how to get this setup? Any recommendations for a good converter? |

Re: Adding LED lights
Did you get a five or four wire version? Sounds like you got a bad one, but without knowing how you wired it, it's impossible to know. I think Revolution sells one...you're likely better off returning what you have and getting that one. I recommend 5 wire.

4 wire. If I recall correctly, I wired to the negative on the 1st battery and the positive on the last battery in the chain. Sparks & spewing happened when connecting to the last battery.

Re: Adding LED lights
There are a lot of good videos on YouTube about this. And they all say to expect the spark.

Re: Adding LED lights
I have two DS Carts and installed this on both of them in the Summer, they seem to work fine. Yes you do get a spark when you first connect.

Re: Adding LED lights
Does the converter need to be mounted to any specific type of surface?

Re: Adding LED lights
I would not recommend mounting it to the tire.
