Default 1986 carryall II rear end strength?

has any body blown up a carryall II rear end?how much will it take? i've got a couple of engine choices and more power is always better, but if the 440 is pushin it already then i dont want to put in the 550 and blow it up right away. i figure at least 45-55 hp from the 440 twin and 65+ from the 550,their both polaris two stroke twins 1989 440-air,1990 550-liquid cooled.should i use the polaris driven clutch if possible?
thanks and hello to everyone out there,rwd4evr
