Re: Texas Beach Requirements(?)
I'm heading to Port Aransas this weekend for Sand Fest.
You can register as a non-resident for $100. I believe Resident is $50.. Here's the link... http://www.cityofportaransas.org/Gol...nse_Plates.cfm Blessings, Doc S |

Re: Texas Beach Requirements(?)
It is back but i don't think its near 100%. I am wondering how sand fest will go over this year. It's usually very very packed during the event.

Re: Texas Beach Requirements(?)
They have a similar event like that here in Galveston, kind of like who can build a biggest or the most detailed sandcastle......
Is that the same thing going on in PA? |

Re: Texas Beach Requirements(?)
Yes, lots of sand sculptures. They have Professional and amateur categories.
They have a big top tent set up for live music. Lots of good bands with a variety of music. There are vendors on the beach, selling food, beer, and lots of stuff you probably wouldn't expect (Hot tubs, Cigars, and other novelties). They even have vendors selling Golf Carts/Beach buggies. I looked into being a vendor for my Bluetooth Ammo Can and Cigar Box stereos, but their fees were a bit too steep for me. Lots and lots of people and a good time! Lots of Carts on the beach, both rentals and private owners. We usually go every year. Hurricane Harvey devastated this community, but they didn't get the attention or recovery funds that other communities got (corpus got quite a bit, but suffered relatively little). They're not quite back to where they were, but they are rebuilding. We want to help support them in part by attending their festivities :) After the festivities, we usually tailgate while the beach traffic clears. Sometimes there can be miles of cars trying to get off the beach, so we just pull out the gas grill, turn on lights, sometimes make a bonfire and crank out tunes :) A bunch of middle age (or older) folks having fun! It's not uncommon for folks we don't even know to see us partying, stop and join in the fun! If you see a bunch of middle aged people having fun while traffic is moving slowly, it's probably us. Stop by and have a taco :) Blessings, DocS |

Re: Texas Beach Requirements(?)
Sir Nuke,
It was in my 1st post... Port Aransas, TX. this past weekend... I took my new-to-me cart. Have some things to work on, but all-in-all, things went well with the cart! I didn't realize It was illegal to drive on the beach with my LED light bar on... I know better now... The Young Port Aransas officer was very polite :) The town is rebuilding, but there is still obvious damage around town. There is electricity and running water. Some of the hotels and restaurants were up and running. I believe all the RV parks were pretty full (we stayed at Tropical Island RV. It was better than before Harvey!). The IGA was open (of course my wife had to spend about an hour shopping). There were more golf cart rental places than I recall last year. SANDFEST WAS ABSOLUTELY FULL THIS YEAR!!! I hope it helps the town with it's recovery effort. Blessings, Doc S |

Re: Texas Beach Requirements(?)
Finally got a vacation from work. Heading to Port A on Monday for 4 days! Time for some fun on the beach. My cart isn't registered with the town but it is street legal so I hope I don't get stopped. They didn't say anything when I went last year. Looking forward to it!

Re: Texas Beach Requirements(?)
Just got back yesterday from Port A. Drive the cart all over and never had a problem. Had lights and signals and SMV sign. Local carts all have plates but not sure that’s required
