Default Marathon - Adding lights

Cart does not have lights now, can I use the wire coming off the ignition switch to power the lights, that wire goes to the middle contact of the solenoid.

If that is not good what can I attach it to other than directly to battery. It would be nice to turn on and off with the cart.

Ignition switch or wire connection somewhere in the circuit AFTER the switch would be a good idea, I did it that way with all my accessories except the clock. That way when the key switch is off you know everything else is too, although I eliminated the key switch entirely on mine and went to a hidden toggle switch. Same principle, just better security.

Or keep the key switch as a decoy.

If you run the lights entirely off the ignition switch it’s going to burn up the switch. You can use the switch to trip a SPST or SPDT relay and power the lights that way.
PIN 85 to the hot wire on the switch
Pin 86 to ground
Pin 87 fuses at 10 amps to the positive battery terminal
Pin 30 goes to power the lights.

Pin 87a is not used (middle pin, only if you use a SPDT relay… SPST this pin doesn’t exist)

Well DingDang it, I didn't even think of that.... Yeah yeah, leave the key in it too. That way when it won't start they'll figure it ain't worth stealing anyway
