My '87 has been doing this for at least 5-7 years. I just live with it because the cart runs so good otherwise. Probably just need new rings.

Could need rings? Compression is just over 100psi. Have you ever adjusted the valves? Mine are at the outer limit .008 ex. .007 in. seem pretty noisy. I bought this cart April of this year, so don't know much about the kf82 engine. Would like to upgrade, but $$$$.
Thanks Larry |

Re: 1984 club car gas smokes
I've not adjusted the valves on my '87 that smokes. And my '87 does use oil.
But I have adjusted them on my '90 that barely smokes. Adjusting them can definitely eliminate noise. There's no "adjustment" per se, you "adjust" them by swapping out different size tappet caps that are accessed under that plate with the single bolt holding it on (front of the motor). |

That was quick. Thank you very much. Now would you know what size caps I need. Both my valve gaps are right at .008

Re: 1984 club car gas smokes
It should be set at .004"-.008". So it sounds like you're within spec.
