2016 Yamaha G29 EFI vs carb
Hello, looking at two 2016 Yamaha G29s. One is EFI and the other is carbureted. My question is what else is different besides how the fuel is delivered? Is the 2016 EFI independent rear suspension and the 2016 carbureted one a solid rear axle (I read that somewhere online)? Is the rear independent suspension a big difference and desirable? What update to the clutches were done around 2013? Basically I've been looking for a G29 2013 or newer because of some clutch update but wasn't sure how much of a difference it is?
Thanks for any input between the two 2016 G29s. |

Re: 2016 Yamaha G29 EFI vs carb
2016 G29 are all solid axle, no independent. The EFI is not a huge draw for me, the fuel pumps are way expensive, and seem to have a higher failure rate than the "carb" one.
Both have the newer/better FBT clutch, not the old Team clutch, that have no grease fittings, and no seals to keep dirt out of the wear surfaces. |

You’ll end up with Plowman clutching before too long anyway, so I wouldn’t let that be the deciding factor lol

Re: 2016 Yamaha G29 EFI vs carb
Is there any power difference between the EFI setup and the carb setup? The EFI sellers says it has 11.4hp and the carb seller has a pic of a label that says 8.9hp...?
Last question. Both carts look clean and both are the exact same price. Only real difference is the EFIvsCarb, the colors and the wheels and tires. So for the same money which would you all get? |

Re: 2016 Yamaha G29 EFI vs carb
EFI can be pricey to repair as noted.
Carb is easy and simple. From a repair stand point, go with the carb. IMO, no reason to buy a EFI golf car. |

Re: 2016 Yamaha G29 EFI vs carb
Ignore those HP specs..they both have the same 357cc that produces 11.5 HP...we have addressed this issue in the past...I would go Carb as well I have to change the EFI fuel pumps pretty frequently around here and they are pricey where-as a simple in line fuel filter and can of carb cleaner are pretty cheap...

Re: 2016 Yamaha G29 EFI vs carb
Today I went and bought the 2016 G29 carb cart and after getting it home and taking a ride around the family farm, I could not be happier. The happiness has nothing to do with carb vs EFI. I have no EFI cart experience. My happiness is that this is my first Yamaha and the coil suspension was so nice. I've have had older Club Cars and EZ-GOs, and have rode in newer Club Cars and EZ-GOs with leaf spring suspensions and the Yamaha was a nice upgrade in comfort in my opinion.

Re: 2016 Yamaha G29 EFI vs carb
Yamaha has a clear advantage over the "old style setup" used by the other 2. And always has used coil-over style, back to the G1.

Now I just need to figure out how I got the "Club Car" pic below my avatar so I can get it updated to "Yamaha"...
