Pre-Charge Resistor Drain
I have a 1996 Club Car DS with stock Curtis controller. I installed a 400 amp contactor and precharge resistor when I replaced my Trojans with Nissan Leaf modules. If I leave the cart sit for more than a week without the charger plugged in it will almost drain the leaf pack completely. Could the pre-charge resistor be the cause of this. The pre-charge resistor and the main power feeding the contactor are the only things on the cart without a disconnect/relay when turned off.
Thanks, Malisk |

Re: Pre-Charge Resistor Drain
Flipping the run/tow switch will greatly reduce the drain. There will still be some self discharge.

Re: Pre-Charge Resistor Drain
There is no Run/Tow switch on my 96 CC DS. Even if there was the question is will the resistor drain a Nissan Leaf lithium battery pack in 2 weeks on a stock controller. I am trying to sort out if its the chargery BMS killing the pack or the cart itself.

Re: Pre-Charge Resistor Drain
Why don't you remove the resistor and see. It won't hurt anything.
