AC motor maintenance
Is there anything that can be done to help prolong the life of an AC motor? Any service tips? I've got a 2010 Star Street Legal EV. Thank you.

Re: AC motor maintenance
Mike,
I see no one replied to your question, here is my best answer for you. Having worked in my younger days in an electric motor repair shop I have some knowledge. I purchased a 2016 Star Diablo LSV new (48volt ac), 3500 miles later there’s no maintenance for the motor it’s self. I would recommend changing the gear oil in the differential. The drain plug should be magnetic, so clean off the metal shavings from the run in. Next I refilled it with synthetic 75w / 140 gear oil. The tag on the axle says refill with .65 liters, or about 22 ounces. Hope this helps. |
