New here help appreciated No spark issue
Hello everyone,
I am rebuilding a 90 par car gas for my mother at her campground, i have fully taken it apart and replaced the piston, head, spark plug, spark wire, crank seals, carb, fuel lines, fuel pump, got rid of the oil tank and oil pump. So here is my issue it has the regular ignition module so with the cart i recieved a coil with 1.5 ohm of resistance so went to autozone and got the LU800 put that on and i am getting the 3.5 ohms now, the problem im having is the spark only comes at the beginning and end of the key turn. One at the beginning one at the end. Voltage across coil is 10v, i have a battery showing 12.5v, dont know if thats the issue or if the module is bad itself. It wants to run and i have 115 pounds of compression just cant get the spark to cooperate, im using a spark tester to verify. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you |

For sure, your module is bad. Check out the "ignition module" sticky on top of the forum for replacement options.

Re: New here help appreciated No spark issue
Ok i put the new pertronix module on and i am still not getting spark only at the beginning and end do a get a spark. I dont know if its just out of timing or what, the only other thing i can think of would be the key switch, u really have to fund its sweet spot to get it to turn over. Wondering if that could be the issue or not? Any ideas

Yes your key switch having a sweet spot could be an issue. I would test it out and make sure it's working properly before going further.
