It doesn't "bolt" to anything. It just sits inside there between the rocker arm and the cam tappet. compression (correct valve lash) holds it in place "wedging" it in place. When valves are not adjusted regularly, and lash becomes too large then it allows it to "fall" out of place where it belongs.

Not much to it. Loosen the valve lash, drop it in place. it will seat on the valve tappet in the bottom. place it under the rocker arm and tighten the adjuster on the other end to set it to .004" and you're done. Make sure the motor is at TDC when you do it (piston all the way up, on the compression stroke.)

Thank you all for your help. I got the cart running awhile back, but I have had a big engine smoking problem. I thought maybe it was some seals leaking and needed some time to run and it would stop, but it hasn't. I had an issue the other day where it stopped running and upon checking the air filter, it was full of oil. What would cause this?

Possibly a bad needle valve in the carb, allowing fuel into the engine, and oil. Over full oil is the usual cause of oil in the airbox.

Thank you for your reply cgtech. I will switch back to the oem carb and change the oil and see if that helps. Will this also make it smoke really bad while it runs. It smokes white smoke constantly while it is running.

If there is a lot of fuel in your oil it gets really really thin. This allows the thin oil/fuel mixture to seep past the rings and valve seals and get into the combustion chamber. The fuel adds volume to the oil, which also causes the oil to be forced into the combustion chamber and also into the intake (air filter). The oil when overfilled will get pressurized and gets forced into places it's not supposed to be.

The other negative effect here is engine wear. The oil is supposed to be the barrier between metal parts in the engine (bearings) and if it's super thin it won't be doing it's job. Rod and crank journal bearings cannot be inspected without disassembling the engine, so no way to check where you're at. If you continue to drive with this issue you will for sure need a rebuild.

Cgtech is right, the needle valve in the carb might not be shutting off the fuel, so fuel is just dumping into the engine. Aftermarket carbs made in cheap China factories don't have the tolerances and quality construction of a genuine Mikuni carb.
