my 84 G1 was a freebie. i replaced the starter/gen with a known good one, cleaned up the cables, installed a free battery and it ran.

I have since replaced the crank seals, gone through the wiring, carb, tune up and bought a parts cart soooo.... yea free

My "free" cart is an '87 Marathon. Needed batteries, but I did some sifting through the core pile and came up with a mismatched but functional "set". That & freed up the brakes and it runs and drives like you would expect a stock 36 volt resistor cart to.

My first free one is the one I just finally got around to building...1987 Clubcar DS electric, didn't get "before I started to clean it up" pictures..sorry. Got it 2 years ago and just started on it a month ago and finished it in time for the 4th of July parades I do. And then just this last week another guy gave me another cart!! A 1985 Clubcar DS electric, needs some serious cleaning up!! But it is all there and after putting a bit of a charge on it with my charger it actually tries to move...
