Default Brake adjustment after Lithium Upgrade

After the Lithium upgrade (weight loss). When braking my rear wheels lock up often unless I am very careful. Has anyone played around with the adjustments to prevent this? Would it be worth looking into aftermarket front brakes?

I have no problem with my brakes after lithium upgrade. Try adjusting brakes and see if that corrects your issue. If you do go with the front brakes. Jakes is the only company that offers them. They are back ordered now due to the high demand.

That is what I figured, Jack her up loosen them to free spin, then adjust til they just touch and then test it out and go from there.

Might want to check your rear axle to be sure it's bolted securely and mounted correctly. Don't ask me how I know this but it may have involved installing a new motor and leaf springs.
I'm not sure if you may have had the rear-end apart recently.

I would suggest removing your brake drums and do a good cleaning. Remove all the brake dust that has accumulated.

Then adjust them as others have pointed out.

An accumulation of brake dust can do some funky things at times.

CCNorth, I did the lift kit myself by rotating the axles 180 and putting the leaf springs on top. I did look at it briefly and nothing is loose. This set up is much like a real car rear where the saddles are welded onto the axles and two u-bolts. it wont roll like some of the other carts with lift.

The drums were removed when I did all the work over this past winter and they were as clean as new. I have not driven the cart long enough to have any build up.

I truly think Loosing over 300lbs by going Lithium has just made them touchy.

What cart is this in? The precedents have relatively weak springs and the springs will twist when the brakes are applied.

Also what size tires do you have, and how much pressure is in them?

Fairtax
The China Personal Carrier (Generic Chinese "Gem Car") 3" Lift, 22" Tires
I only notice the wheels lock up when I am driving alone, downhill when I apply brake to slow down for upcoming speed bump. I have the controller switched to low speed mode so top speed is 10mph and I try my hardest to maintain 5mph speed limit.
If we were free to drive the cart at full speed I am sure this would be a much more Pronounced issue. I am in no rush to adjust them because of these driving conditions.
I started this thread just to see if others had any similar experience with touchy brakes after taking the extra weight off their cart.
