We use in slab heating, this is the only way to go if you are building new. Always warm and dry and keeps the concrete nice and warm to walk on.

The second best option we use in our other shop is overhead infra red tube heater!

I've got 24x32 shop, cement floor, walls insulated and covered with OSB. Have not put up ceiling on bottom of rafters yet. I use a free standing wood stove to start up on wood scraps I save from everywhere including what others throw away. Have an old liquid refrigerant canister I use to gravity feed recycled crankcase oil and regulate the flow with a small ball valve through a copper tube and fitting that lets it drip through a hole and fitting in the top of the wood heater. Throw in some scrap wood, turn on the valve, instant light up, 10 minutes later take your coat off. Have a small cheap fan to circulate air in the shop. Hope to add the ceiling and some insulation up top soon. Nothing like getting heat from recycled material no one else wants. Bradshaw

Here are a couple of pictures. Stove was an old kit that had cast iron top and bottom with a thin piece of rolled tin for the oval shaped sides. Previous owner worked in metal shop and had a thick piece of metal rolled to replace thin factory metal. I used a flared fitting to go through a hole that was already in the top. Copper tube through small ball valve then back to a 90 going up into bottom of old refrigerant can. Can is inverted with top down, cut a hole in bottom of can(now top) with hole saw and welded in fitting from old fuel oil tank with a flip lid. Used pipe and an old wheel for the stand. Save all oil changes, scrap wood, paper, cardboard, etc... stove exhausts through roof.
