Re: Hydrocoating Water Paint
You can spend a lot in a hurry, especially on the tank. There are kits available from companies like Dip Wizard. TONS of different graphics. We've found the water based spray paint from Michael's does an excellent job for a base coat. Clear coat glossy or satin for final finish.
It all depends on how steady and slow you dip. You can see the guy dipping brace himself against the tank. I think he's pulling it out too quick after dipping. If your doing a small part, a 5 gal bucket can work. A larger tank similar to the one in the vid can start at 10K and go up. Right after the dip, hit a switch and a pump flows all excess off the top in thru a filter. Do a lot, water changes. There will be so much activator in the water the film can start liquefying when you lay it down. Bubbles, missed spots can be taken care of. Once people find out you do it, they bring all sorts of things in. Did some center caps off a Jeep in camo, Hello Kitty ear protectors and matching gun grips, light switch covers, etc etc. |

Liquiform Graphics in Seneca, SC just finished doing my front cowl, rear body, fender flares, front cover, rear scuff pads, and battery cover and my cup holder. I am just now putting them all back together, but here it sits as of now. they used a tan flat base, matte clear, and the film is True Timber xd3. |
