Clutch pulling tools
My shop is getting a lot of call for replacing drive and driven clutches lately. We bought a drive clutch puller for club car, from Nivel, and used it twice, and my mechanic says it is already shot, probably wont work again. Now we need to pull clutches off of a club car, an EZGO, and two yamaha's, so I was pricing those as well, but it occurred to me that someone out there may make a whole kit. One that can be used on all the different makes of clutches out there. We made one ourselves to do the older Wisconsin Robin motors. Is there such an animal? I asked about making pullers ourselves and my mechanic said that if we us a home made one on a customers cart, and screw up the threads, we will end up replacing a crank shaft, and I don't want to do that. Looking for suggestions, or should I just keep buying the ones in the catalogue that only last for two or three pulling jobs??

Re: Clutch pulling tools
Make sure they use anti-seize on the threads some times that makes them last longer.
I don't have an answer about the puller kit, sorry!!!! |

Re: Clutch pulling tools
I had to replace the drive clutch on my Kawasaki 4 wheeler. I cut the old bolt to length, then cut a slot in it for a flat head screw driver so I could remove it . I used a push bolt from one of my snap-on pullers to screw into the old clutch. This worked well for me.

Re: Clutch pulling tools
Fill the hole with grease from a grease gun before you screw the puller into the clutch. The hydraulic force will help push it off without damaging the puller.
